My brother got a new record player, so he gave me his old one. Just required a stylus and a pre-amp. Over the last few days we’ve been taking it easy, watching the squirrels battle a blizzard in the garden while drinking coffee and thinking about how I could best assist the little critters. Listened to some fine musics (in my opinion, of course) and we headed out for a wee jaunt about the record shops – where I picked up these gems.
Bing Crosby – Best of Bing (99p)
Kris Kristofferson – Me and Bobby McGee (£1.50)
Michael Nesmith & The First National Band (£4)
Ry Cooder – Ry Cooder (£2.99)
Ry Cooder – Paradise and Lunch (£3.99)
John Hiatt – Bring the Family (£3.99)
Play It Again
Michael Nesmith & The First National Band – Magnetic South
Michael Nesmith & The First National Band – Loose Salute
(both for £10)
Mixed Up Records
Suzanne Vega – Solitude Standing (£1)
Sons of the Pioneers – Sons of the Pioneers (£3)
Some fine records they are too. Really pleased to have nabbed the Michael Nesmith LPs and that Spirit of ’76 was a timely find given I’d been rediscovering Spirit and a good friend had suggested I venture beyond the ‘classics’.
